Premier Select Lamb Formula

Premier Select Lamb Formula is a true colostrum supplement formulated specifically for lambs. It contains natural maternal bovine colostrum with essential vitamins and minerals.

Colostrum: Why is it important?

When lambs are born their immune systems are not fully developed. Lambs rely on immunity being passed to them through their mother and the first milk she produces. This first milk is called colostrum and it contains many of the immune and growth factors necessary for life. The health and survival of newborn lambs is greatly dependent on the ingestion of colostrum after birth.

The ability of the newborn lamb to absorb the antibodies in colostrum is at its peak within the first few hours of life and decreases over time.  It is crucial for a lamb to consume adequate amounts of colostrum, an equivalent to 1 percent of its body weight, during the first 24 hours of life.

Colostrum: Why specie-specific formulas?

Bovine colostrum is an ideal substitution or supplementation for maternal colostrum. While bovine colostrum may provide a nutritional base for a variety of species, there are still specie-specific nutritional requirements.

In cooperation with breeders, distributors, and research specialists, La Belle has introduced a line of scientifically formulated products based on bovine colostrum but nutritionally tailored for other mammals, including sheep.  Starting with a bovine colostrum base, vitamins, minerals and lamb-compatible probiotics are added.

 

Premier Select Lamb Formula provides additional nutrients that will continue to benefit the newborn past the first hours after birth. It is recommended to feed in combination with a milk replacer for the first 7 days of life.

This product boasts an amazing 3-year shelf life and requires no special storage or thawing prior to use. 

As packaged, Premier Select Lamb Formula will feed 5 lambs for 7 days.
